Undocumented Students
At Swarthmore College, we value different viewpoints, identities, and histories among our students, faculty, and staff. We believe this diversity fosters inclusion and contributes to our community’s strong sense of open dialogue and engagement with ideas and issues.
We encourage all students, regardless of your citizenship status or national origin, to apply to the College. This includes refugee/asylee and undocumented and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) students graduating from U.S. high schools or earning a high school equivalency diploma in the U.S.

Applying to Swarthmore
If you are an asylee/refugee or undocumented or DACA-eligible student, you will apply to Swarthmore in the same manner as all U.S. citizens and permanent residents. We evaluate context and background, so you are encouraged to share your story with us through the application process. This policy extends to all first-year as well as transfer students.

Financial Aid
For asylee/refugee and undocumented and DACA students, Swarthmore’s admissions process is need-blind. We do not take your financial need or application for financial aid into account when making the decision about whether to admit you to the College. Swarthmore College is committed to meeting 100 percent of admitted students’ determined financial need, and our aid awards do not include loans that need to be repaid. We believe all students should be able to afford a Swarthmore education regardless of socioeconomic status or ability to pay. Undocumented, DACA-eligible and asylee/refugee students need to submit the CSS Profile as well as other required information as requested. All students who are admitted to Swarthmore and apply for financial aid will have their materials reviewed by the Financial Aid Office.
